Why put together an expedition of this nature?
To involve and positively impact as many people as possible.
One
of our mission goals is to ‘push the limits of science and medicine to inspire
people to achieve their goals, no matter what their pre-conceived limits’. Within this mission goal, we will also push
the limits of technology to bring the world along with us on our journey to the
summit!
We
are looking to achieve even more than basic voice dispatches. With the latest in computer, satellite, and
video editing technology, it is our intention to bring the world with us on our
journey via video podcasts and interactive video conferencing throughout our
journey!

This
idea ultimately gave birth to SecretSpot.TV, a video podcast series dedicated
to promoting the synchronicity of science, medicine, and technology in outdoor
settings. The Everest Freestyle
Expedition is only the beginning…SecretSpot.TV will continue on with full video
coverage of expeditions such as this for years to come.
Achieving full video podcasts matched with
interactive video conferencing over a satellite connection, led us to the
higher goal of spreading our message out to as many people, from as many
different backgrounds as possible. In
that spirit, we are molding our shows to be intriguing and educational to
everyone from outdoor enthusiasts, medical professionals, techies, students, to
just your ‘average Joe’ who enjoys watching a good adventure show.
Along
with a lesson in arranging and executing an expedition of this nature, it is our
intent to provide our viewers with a much greater experience. We will
bring cultural awareness about Nepal, Tibet and their people, and focus on the amazing
Sherpa culture. No expedition would reach the summit of Everest without the
Sherpas experience and expertise, and it is time that they are given the public
recognition and gratitude they deserve! Many people may never get to
experience the native Nepali and Tibetan cultures first-hand, so we hope to
bring at least some of those cultures to them over the internet.

We
will also focus on environmental awareness about the mountain itself and the local
region. As with many natural wonders that attract large groups of people,
the need for maintaining the cleanliness and prestige of Everest is a major
concern. We hope to demonstrate the significant benefits that can be
achieved by cleaning up Everest with relatively little effort!
Above
all of this, we hope to bring inspiration to our viewers. We are just
ordinary people who have chosen to live our dreams and see them through,
wherever they may lead. We hope to show our viewers the possibilities that
can await them and the remarkable feats they can achieve when there are no
longer any pre-conceived limits holding them back. We hope to show that, no matter what their
current situation, the power of living a dream and following a passion can take
them places they never would have imagined.
How will we set up our brodcasting operation?
Our
main broadcasting operation will be run by Chris Stanko and Alex Mondau and will be operated out of both Base Camp and
Advance Base Camp. The backbone of the operation will run off of both Apple
and PC laptops, with voice and video dispatches from camps 1, 2, 3 and the
summit being sent from PDAs by the rest of the team members. We will
utilize a satellite modem to transmit the data onto the internet and various
other hardware and software to edit the shows and carry out the broadcasts.

We
will be airing our podcasts on our web site at SECRETSPOT.TV , and viewers will be
able to download and watch them right off of our site, or subscribe to the
podcast and be able to view them in iTunes or any other podcast reader of their
choice. We will also have a section available for writing questions that
will be sent to us via email and answered on the show! Interactive video conferences will be
streamed on this Expedition web site and will
be made available for download as well.
Both the podcasts and video
conferences will take place when our entire team is together at Base Camp, with
regular picture and short video updates being posted at more frequent
intervals.
While
we hope to inspire all who participate in this project to truly live their
dreams, we understand that many of these people will likely never see the
beautiful slopes of Mount Everest in person. For this reason; we strive to have this podcast and video conferencing
project bring those people along with us and allow them to experience some of
what this amazing adventure will be all about!
