BIOGRAPHY

Dawa will be instrumental in helping the Everest Freestyle Expedition do a grand traverse of Mt Everest in 2009. His efforts on the 2007 Everest Base Camp Trek made for a truly unique experience and an perfect trip.

Thirty seven year old Ang Dawa Sherpa was born in Solo Khumbu District, in Gorakhani, Ga. B. Sa, Khamding No 4...Nepal.

Dawa is married with 2 children. He has a eleven year old girl (Lakpa Sherpa) and a six year old boy (Lakpa Gelu Sherpa) and spends as much time as he can with them...outside of his mountain guiding career. Dawa has an impressive list of ascents and frequency of ascents...including Everest, Ama Dalam and Cholotse.

Beyond climbing and spending time with his his kids, Dawa loves to watch 'Animal Planet' and read the Kathmandu Post. 

Dawa dreams of  climbing in other countries...including ice climbing in the Canadian Rockies. He loves to guide people from other countries and be an ambassador for Nepal and the Sherpa people. His homeland should be proud!

Dawa is excited about summiting on Everest in 2009 with Phill Michael...and completing a grand traverse from north to south. He says it will be good training for the 2010 Secret Spot Seven Summits attempt to summit on K2.
